The fashion and apparel industry is one of the most global with products sourced from all corners of the world and global brands catering to customers in existing and emerging markets worldwide as well.  For those going into the industry, you will almost certainly be traveling and working internationally--perhaps even on your first day on the job!  Our department provides travel study, student exchange, and international internship opportunities for you to explore different cultures and see how the global industry works--and set yourself apart from others when applying for jobs.

International Travel Study

The University of Delaware has extensive opportunities for travel study where students travel with faculty for one-month during winter session.  Students in the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies can select from a variety of these options, which enable students to study apparel design, product development, fashion merchandising, consumer behavior, and other relevant topics in an international setting. Check the Institute for Global Studies web site for information on the exciting study abroad programs.

Domestic Travel Study

Students can also benefit from travel and educational opportunities in the United States. Individual courses are supplemented with domestic study programs, short-field trips, and material sourcing opportunities that are organized in locations such as New York City, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and California. These are scheduled each semester through fashion courses or clubs.
