Dallas Shaw to speak about her career, new book

Editor's note: Please note the location for this lecture was previously announced as the Perkins Student Center, but it has been moved to the Morris Library, as noted below.

Noted fashion illustrator Dallas Shaw will speak with students about her new book, The Way She Wears It, as well as her experiences, her style and her work at 5:30 p.m., Monday, April 10, in the Morris Library Lecture Room.

Shaw has worked as an artist, project designer and style ambassador for clients including Oscar de la Renta, Chanel, Ralph Lauren and many others. Her book, subtitled “An Insider’s Guide to Revealing Your Personal Style,” is organized around seasonal style challenges and includes hundreds of photos and original drawings.

The book will be available for purchase at the event, and Shaw will sign copies, answer questions and give advice to students. She will speak about such topics as her insider tricks, expert layering hacks, the secrets to print pairing, bold color choices and the power of confidence.

The event is free and open to the public, but those who wish to attend are asked to RSVP at this link.

Shaw’s talk is sponsored by the Fashion Merchandising Club and is geared toward anyone with an interest in fashion — novices trying to figure out a signature style, fashionistas who want to step up their game or the most stylish presence in the room who’s looking to stay ahead of the competition.
