The new travel study to Italy from Fashion and Apparel
Studies offered in January 2017 was a great success! For many students, this
was the first time traveling to Italy and staying in Florence and Milan, the
two most important cities for fashion industry and Italian luxury brands. It gave them a new appreciation for
craftsmanship and brand heritage. The group started the journey in the charming
town of Volterra known for Tuscany regional cuisines and wine, and we had the
opportunity to make our own pasta using a pasta maker along with the chef one
evening. In Florence the group attended the Pitt Uomo 2017, one of the worldās
most important platforms for menās clothing and accessory collections as well
as visiting Polimoda, a fashion school established by Mr. Ferragamo for a guest
lecture. While staying in Milan, the group visited VF European Headquarters in Switzerland
and spent all day learning about the various departments for global brands they
operate. Throughout the VF companyās sustainable building, there are many
coffee points where we could enjoy any type of Italian coffee just like the
employees thanks to their hospitality. We also visited Missoni Company in
Smirago Italy, which was an incredible experience. Other excursions included day trips to cities
of Pisa and Lucca.
