Two students from the Department of Fashion and Apparel
Studies were selected as winners for the recent Fashion Scholarship Fund case
competition in New York City. Kendall
Keough and Katie Kornienko add to the long line of competition winners for the
department over the last 7 years.
Students from the department have won over $250,000 in scholarships in
total.
Kendall Keough is a junior Fashion Merchandising major from Wilton,
CT. She received a $5,000 award for her idea on incorporating body scanning in
Aerie stores. An interesting fact about
Kendall is that she has been a pianist for 14 years and has played in concerts
at Steinway hall in NYC twice.
Katie Kornienko is a sophomore double majoring in Fashion
Merchandising and Finance from Montgomeryville, PA, but recently moved to
Boston, Massachusetts with her family.
In addition to her studies, she also is a figure skater at UD and can
speak 4 languages! Katie scored in the
top 6 of 226 student winners and as a result, was a $10,000 scholarship recipient. She proposed an idea introducing an
entertainment concept for the four sports segments of Patagonia.
Both students attended the FSF student gala held at the
Marriott Marquis in New York City in January.
In addition, the students will receive industry mentors, attend special
events in New York this summer and be recognized in the industry as an elite
group of students whom employers seek out.
Congratulations to our winners for 2018!
