Congratulations to our Paris American Academy Scholarship Winners!

"Nothing can quite compare to spending the summer in Paris's Latin Quarter at the Paris American Academy studying Fashion Merchandising. During my amazing summer session, I was able to both attend and work at Couture Fashion Week! I happened to be in the right place at the right time to watch icons such as Anna Wintour, Cara Delevingne, and Kristen Stewart walk into the Grand Palais for the Chanel Fashion Show. I was able to sit in on lectures with fashion experts and take courses from experienced professors regarding the industry of luxury goods and fashion marketing. During my stay, I was also able to visit many unique sights such as Monet's Gardens, Louvre, Palace of Versailles, Musée d'Orsay, and watch the Bastille Day firework show. I met various students from across the globe through the academy, which allowed for some unforgettable friendships and memories. To say the least, this experience was truly remarkable and one that will always remain with me. I earnestly recommend this program to anyone who is intrigued by the art of fashion, you won't be disappointed."

"I am extremely grateful to be chosen as the first Marsha Dickson scholarship winner. This scholarship allowed me to have an opportunity to study in Paris American Academy for the spring semester. I have grown so much as both a student and a designer, through this program. Paris American Academy exposed me to so many different fashion techniques, as well as experienced nuances all around the fashion industry. 

Throughout this program, I've learned a lot of new design techniques. I have been exposed to smocking, beading, embroidery, haute couture draping, couture techniques, flat pattern, feathers, shibori, nuno-felting, hat making, Madame Grès bustier and draped pleating, and last but not least constructing an arm for my mannequin. By constructing an arm for my mannequin alone, I have learned how critical pressing is to garment success.

All the Paris American Academy students were given numerous opportunities to intern and to help in the backstage of the haute couture and ready-to-wear fashion shows.

This semester was beyond my expectations, and I hope that the next student who receives the scholarship will experience the same.

I felt extremely grateful to be surrounded by experts from so many fashion fields, and students of different ages with different experiences. Without this scholarship, I wouldn't have been able to see and experience them all."
