Undergraduate students from the Department of Fashion and Apparel Studies traveled to W. L. Gore's Elk Mill V facility to learn more about how Gore designs and tests textiles. Students had the opportunity to tour four of the facility's research laboratories where textiles are tested for flame, water, wind, and ultraviolet light resistance. Students were able to ask questions of Gore's research team to learn how performance textiles are developed and tested. Students also walked on the factory floor to see how textiles are prepared for shipping to apparel manufacturers.
