The Visiting Student Program is a cooperative arrangement between the University of Delaware (UD) and the Fashion Institute of Technology (FIT) that permits students to attend FIT for one year without the necessity to transfer. Courses taken at FIT are applied towards the Bachelors of Science degree in Fashion Merchandising and Management or Fashion Design and Product Innovation at the University of Delaware. Students who successfully complete the prescribed courses at both institutions qualify for an Associate's degree from FIT and a Bachelor's degree from UD. The fashion programs at the University of Delaware and the FIT visiting student program complement each other. The following three FIT associate degree programs are offered to students majoring in fashion merchandising and apparel design.
These FIT options give students an opportunity to broaden their educational backgrounds and to gain additional knowledge about the fashion industry in the largest fashion center in the USA. While attending FIT students have direct exposure to prominent designers and retailers in the fashion industry. The year in New York also provides students with diverse cultural experiences.
Early advisement and planning for the FIT Visiting Student program are required. Student must inform their Fashion and Apparel Studies academic advisors of their intent to participate in the FIT Visiting Student program. Please see the following steps for applying for the FIT exchange program.
